The NFRA Presidential Endorsing Convention was held in Orlando, Florida, two weeks ago on October 13, 14, and 15th, 2023.
Fifteen states were represented, sending more than 107 voting delegates. Counting delegates, alternates, speakers, and guests, there were more than 300 people present during the convention. CRA fielded 22 delegates – the 3rd largest delegation following host state Florida with 30 and nearby Georgia with 32 delegates.
A new Bylaw was adopted allowing all convention delegates to vote for Executive Board officers, unless two states delegate count added together represent more than half of the total delegates present. Since Florida and Georgia together had more than half of the voting Delegates at the Orlando Convention, the NFRA Officers were elected by the Board of Directors to ensure geographic representation.
The California NFRA delegation was headed by CRA President Carl Brickey, National Committeewoman Nancy Hinton, and myself as your National Committeeman.
We had numerous speakers – 25 to be exact! Notable speakers included Trump Acting Director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Thomas Homan and also “My Pillow Guy” Mike Lindell. Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz was scheduled to speak, but was unable to attend because of the ongoing election of the next Speaker of the House. The convention was non-stop with conservative speakers including members of the Florida Legislature.
NFRA President Alex Johnson was re-elected to a 2nd term as well as CRA’s NFRA executive board officers – Tom Hudson as Executive Vice President, Davina Keiser as Secretary, and myself as vice president.
NFRA adopted a new Bylaw regarding state membership dues: Dues will remain $5 per member for the first 100 members, but then the amount will drop to $2.50 for subsequent members after the first 100. The dues cap of $2,500 was not changed, so California will continue to pay $2,500 every year. Thus, we failed to reduce the cap, but by adding it to the Bylaws, the Board cannot increase it.
NFRA has selected Maine as the host of our next board meeting next year on May 4 – details to follow.
On my motion – a substitute motion at that – NFRA voted nearly unanimously to endorse President Donald Trump for president next year!
