For over 15 years, the San Joaquin County Unit of the California Republican Assembly (SJCRA) has been concerned about voter fraud and the potential erosion of one of the most fundamental tenets of our Constitutional Republic. Prior to the 2018 election, SJCRA was noticing many irregularities in the voting process and brought this to the attention of our membership, the public, and a number of local elected officials.

When California, in response to Covid-19, changed the voting laws for the 2020 election to mail a ballot to every registered voter, allowing ballots to be counted as long as they were postmarked by 11/3 and received within 17 days, and set up a system of ballot drop boxes, SJCRA knew the system was even more susceptible to fraud. SJCRA became much more vocal about the need to restore voter integrity, sounding the alarm to the Sheriff’s Office, the DA, and numerous County and State elected officials, often speaking in front of the County Board of Supervisors. SJCRA joined forces with another local organization to create an Election Integrity Committee (EIC) and then collaborated with other local patriots who were also working on exposing election fraud. Although often ridiculed and told we did not know what we were talking about and that the 2020 and 2022 elections were secure, the EIC continued to uncover anomalies and bring them to the attention of the Sheriff.

The long and hard work paid off and the EIC was vindicated with the arrest of a Lodi City Councilman on several charges of voter fraud. Although the Councilman was being investigated on criminal charges not pertaining to voter fraud, SJCRA believes that because the EIC made so much noise and had such convincing proof provided to the Sheriff, that when they came across several ballots during their investigation of the councilman, they had no choice but to follow that trail that led to convincing proof of voter fraud. The hour-long statement by the Sheriff’s Department following the Councilman’s arrest highlighted some of the voting process vulnerabilities, such as: 1. Voter rolls not purged, 2. Easy access to register to vote on the Secretary of State’s website (one person registered as several different voters all from the same phone), 3. Lack of signature verification at either the State or County level makes it easy to forge other voters’ signatures on ballots and candidate paperwork, 4. Ease of harvesting ballots and unlawfully completing them for voters, 5. Ability to receive multiple ballots for multiple voters at multiple locations by one voter, and 6. Ability to intimidate other voters.

Another success that was pointed out in the Sheriff’s statement was that of the newly elected DA who, in his first 6 weeks in office, was able to move this case forward to a preliminary hearing after having been stalled on the previous DA’s desk for more than 2 years. That previous DA was a George Soros funded DA and a founding member of the Prosecutor’s Alliance. SJCRA played a vital role in her failed re-election bid by putting out a pamphlet county-wide revealing her soft-on-crime policies. It is also interesting to note that both our current DA and Sheriff are Democrats, but SJCRA was able to work with them in a partnership that brought success for the community. As Ronald Reagan said, “CRA is the conscience of the Republican Party.” SJCRA esteems that position very highly and believes in getting the correct people elected and then holding them accountable after they are elected. It doesn’t matter what political party they belong to, they are elected to serve the people.

One final point needs to be made here. This voter fraud was perpetrated by a candidate in a small city local race that affected the outcome of that race. The question is whether he acted alone and was just able to easily fraud the system, or was he coached on how to do this? Either way, it brings to the forefront that voter fraud happens, it affects elections, it is not difficult to do, but it is difficult for election officials to catch (which should not be the case if they were actually willing to objectively look). Just imagine how pervasive voter fraud likely is on the State and National scale where you have sophisticated nefarious actors who have the money and technology to perpetrate voter fraud on a much larger scale.
