Biography of Olivia Valentine
Olivia is a native of New York City. She is a graduate of the City University of New York and Fordham University School of Law. Olivia Valentine has served on the Hawthorne City Council (CA) since 2011 and is an active member of the South Bay Republican Assembly (SBRA). Her major concerns are economic development, public safety, emergency preparedness and building an arts community.
Ms. Valentine is a mediator and arbitrator. She serves as an adjunct professor of Law at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Her experience includes corporate law and 18 years with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. Olivia is an attorney with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and has a strong background in Alternate Dispute Resolution.
Olivia’s accomplishments include several programs she initiated to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Hawthorne, CA, including:
Co-founded the Hawthorne Economic Development Council and a key organizer of the Taste of Hawthorne Food & Music Festival.
Produced the Hawthorne, CA Business Expo which is a collaboration between the City of Hawthorne and the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce.
Principal in passing an ordinance which allowed restaurant owners to apply for permits to establish outdoor dining areas on Hawthorne City sidewalks. However, during Covid-19 pandemic the city waived these fees for outdoor dining permits.
Principal in passing an ordinance which requires those businesses with a history of burglaries to work with the HPD to develop a security program to protect them and the shopping public.
Principal in passing an ordinance requiring shopping centers to be cleaned every 24 hours and power washed every 7 days, enabling the public to shop in a clean and safe environment.
Invited Phantom Galleries L.A. to Hawthorne to help revitalize with art and set up exhibits in empty storefronts. The Hawthorne Arts Complex houses more than 70 artist which regularly showcase their art in open studio events.

Damon is a native of Pasadena, CA, and a former United States Marine. His father was a Navy veteran and his mother worked as an LVN.

Republican Party of San Bernardino County Central Committee – 2 terms

San Bernardino City Council – 2020, First African American elected in the city’s 211-year history. His top priorities include addressing homelessness, public safety, reengaging the Highland & 40th Street Business Corridors, repairing roadways, updating city lights, and streamlining the new business process.

Damon is married to his wife Felicia who is a San Bernardino Commissioner and is the founder of the San Bernardino Turkey Trot 5k/10k. Together they have a blended family of 5.
